Former American Idol Contestant Antonella Barba Busted With 2 Pounds Of Fentanyl

According to a report from Page Six, Antonella Barba, 32, formerly a contestant on American Idol, was caught with approximately 2 pounds of fentanyl and was subsequently charged with drug possession claims the court records.

The 32-year-old who hails from Point Pleasant, New Jersey, pled guilty to possessing with intent to distribute 400 grams or more of fentanyl. Ironically, Antonella reached the top 16 of the sixth season of American Idol.

Federal prosecutors busted Antonella among a group of people who were smuggling narcotics. Antonella was acting as the courier in October 2018. Reportedly, in relation to the most recent incident, the singer was stopped by a police officer while parked in a rented car, and she had a shoebox on the passenger seat, which authorities later discovered had a very large amount of a “rock-like substance.”

Antonella faces sentencing in November of this year and is looking at around 10 years to life in prison. Prosecutors, however, have requested a much easier sentence as long as Barba continues to cooperate with the authorities.
