POLICE launched an investigation after a Wisconsin mother found her own son's severed head in a bucket.
On September 26, 2023, Taylor Schabusiness was sentenced to life in prison by a Brown County judge in relation to Shad Thyrion's homicide.
Born on November 23, 1997, Taylor Denise Schabusiness is a resident of Green Bay, Wisconsin.
Previously, Schabusiness faced legal trouble for fleeing, eluding, and obstructing a police officer.
On January 4, 2022, she was sentenced to three months in prison with work-release privileges.
At the time, Schabusiness was also involved with 25-year-old Shad Thyrion.
On February 23, 2022, Schabusiness was arrested in relation to Thyrion's murder investigation.
Police opened a probe into Thyrion's death after his mother Tara Pakanich found his severed head in a bucket in the basement of her home.
The case led them to Schabusiness' home; cops reported she had dried blood on her clothing when they arrived.
Investigators also discovered some of Thyrion's body parts located in Schabusiness' vehicle.
"I went downstairs. At the bottom of the stairs, to the right, there was a green bucket with a shower towel on top of it," said Green Bay officer Alex Wanish during his court testament.
"Just to verify we had an actual head in the bucket, lifted the towel off and there was in fact a human head severed in the bucket."
Schabusiness confessed to spending the previous day with Thyrion and smoking meth with him.
A criminal complaint explained: "Schabusiness responded that the police were going to have fun trying to find all of the organs as she dismembered the body.
"Schabusiness stated all of the body parts should be in the basement."
Further, she stated: "There should be a foot or a leg in the minivan."
The complaint detailed: "Detective Graf asked Schabusiness what she did with the head, and Schabusiness stated she had put Thyrion’s head in a black bucket and put a blanket over it."
The complaint further observed: "Schabusienss stated that she and the victim were smoking ‘the b****,’ which Detective Graf was able to clarify with Schabusiness that he believed she was referring to methamphetamine.
"Schabusiness stated that the victim had a chain that he had put around his neck.
"Sachabusiness stated they were getting to sexual intercourse. The strangulation was part of the sex act, according to Schabusiness.
"Schabusiness stated she and the victim had used strangulation during sex in the past."
Schabusiness was charged with first-degree intentional homicide, mutilating a corpse, and third-degree sexual assault in February 2022.
On July 26, 2023, a Brown County jury found her guilty on all charges, with only half an hour to return a verdict. One day later, jurors decided Schabusiness did not suffer from mental disease or defect and that she should be sent to prison.
According to the Wisconsin state legislature, first-degree intentional homicide is punishable by life in prison.
Mutilating a corpse is a felony in the state. It is punishable by a fine of $25,000, a prison sentence of 12 years and 6 months, or both imprisonment and a fine.
On September 26, 2023, Schabusiness was offically sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of release.
According to WBAY: "To ensure she stays in prison, [the judge] added two consecutive sentences adding 18 years to her sentence for the crimes of dismembering and sexually assaulting her victim."
