As if TWICE’s music videos couldn’t get any cuter, their latest video takes music listeners back to the 50s’, as the group’s nine members sing The Jackson’s 5’s “I Want You Back” – all while decked out in retro outfits and hairstyles.
The girl group recorded the cover for the upcoming Japanese romantic comedy film, Sensei Kunshu, based on the popular comic by Momoko Koda. According to Billboard, TWICE felt pressure covering such a popular song, but also felt excited to record it for a fun and lighthearted film such as Sensei Kunshu.
“When we first heard that it would be a cover of a classic song, we were worried that we might not be able to do it justice,” the group said in a statement. “But we sang our version of ‘I Want You Back’ hoping that our song adds more fun and cheer to the movie Sensei Kunshu.”
Having several Japanese members, this isn’t the first time TWICE has worked on a Japanese project. Earlier this year, the group released Japanese songs, “Candy Pop” and “Wake Me Up,” and also announced a Japanese arena tour set for the fall.
